How do you distinguish the difference between sugar beets, which I understand are not healthy and should be avoided, and the standard beets you recommend on your website?

You can determine the difference between sugar beets and regular beets from their appearance. Sugar beets are long and white and look more like parsnips than beets. Sugar beets are not likely to be found in grocery stores, but the commonly eaten regular dark red beet is the variety most likely to be purchased at the store. There are also yellow beets and round white beets that you can purchase and safely eat.
