Limeade

Sugar cane is becoming available in ethnic markets such as Russian and Asian stores. The following is a recipe I enjoyed on the streets of The Dominican Republic.


Ingredients:

  • Sugar cane
  • Limes

Directions:


  1. Peel off the hard outer layer of the sugar cane with a sharp knife (always whittling away from the body!)and feed it slowly into a powerful masticating juicer with a reverse setting. The cane can often get stck in the juicer, so one needs to be able to throw it in reverse easily to free it.
  2. Add a few freshly-squeezed limes and some ice for a terrific summer treat.
